Sharmila Saigaonkar

I am a member of IAYT and Certified Yoga Therapist and a faculty member for Yoga Teachers Training at Hot Yoga Wellness, Ontario. At the teachers training, I teach Yoga and Physiology, Yoga for chronic conditions and science of breathing along with different breathing practices to manage psychosomatic conditions.  My Yoga journey began ten years ago when I attended a 90 minute session at a fundraising event. I was intrigued by the session, understood that yoga is beyond curvy poses.  It is about gaining fitness through wellness and it comes from bringing the balance in our nervous system.  I  decided to join weekly practice to explore further into this field and experienced the mind-body connection, which I never felt before. It was beyond the words and felt the need to share the same with others and decided to explore further into this field. It was a beginning of expressing my experiences through exploring the relationship between my breath, body and my mind.

Since 2010, my formal Yoga training includes:

  • Diploma in Yoga, Yogasadhana, Pune, India.
  • Certificate as a Yoga Exercise Specialist,  East to West Yoga, Toronto.
  • Comprehensive Yoga Therapy  CYT 300 hours and  500 hours of Yoga Teachers Training program from Welkin Yoga Life Institute  (RYS and IAYT member), Brantford, Ontario.
  • Completed Yoga Therapy training (C-IAYT 1000 hours) at Hot Yoga Wellness (IAYT member), Concord, Ontario
